U.S. Revolutionary War POW cover, 1780. Stampless cover from the British Commissioner of Prisons in New York City to Brigadier General James Irvine, Prisoner on Parole, Flatbush, Long Island 1780. James Irvine was a Brigadier General in the Pennsylvania Militia. He was wounded and captured by the British during a skirmish at Chesnut Hill near Philadelphia on Dec. 5 1777 as he led 600 men against Cornwallis. He was held in New York and Flatbush, Long Island until 1781. EXCELLENT Exhibit Item.Price: $1,000.00
